Applying for a place at our school

St Thomas’ welcomes Catholic and non Catholic children from 3 years.  St Thomas’ is a Voluntary-Aided School, which means the Governors have responsibility for admissions to the school. Please contact the Office Manager to book a visit (tel: 01920 821450).

Applying for a place at our School:

Nursery (Children born between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2016). Please note that we have a single intake into our Nursery in September.  We also offer 30 hour childcare provision please contact the School Office for further details.  Once your child’s place in our Nursery is confirmed, please complete a Parent Declaration Form and return to the School Office if you are eligible for 30 hour funding. 

When applying for a Nursery place, you will need to complete an EARLY YEARS APPLICATION FORM – September 2019, available from our website or the School Office between 5th November 2018 and 15th January 2019.  (Please note that Hertfordshire County Council no longer co-ordinates Nursery Admissions therefore you need to apply directly to each school).  You will also need to complete our Supplementary Information Form 2019 2020 or obtain a hard copy from the School Office, and return to the Office along with a Baptism Certificate if applicable.  Please refer to our 2019/20: Nursery Admissions Policy

Key dates for Nursery Applications for 2019/20:

  • 5 November 2018:                        Nursery Applications open
  • 15 January 2019:                           Deadline for Nursery Applications to be received
  • 16 April 2019:                                School advises parents outcome of their Nursery Application
  • 30 April 2019:                                Deadline for parents to accept Nursery place

The Published Admissions Number for Nursery is 15.  Please note that children attending our Nursery are not automatically guaranteed entry into Reception and separate applications must be made.  

When applying for a Reception place, you will need to complete the standard Primary Application Form from Hertfordshire County Council (see www.hertsdirect.org/admissions).  In addition you will need to download and complete a Supplementary Information Form 2019 2020 or obtain a hard copy from the School Office.  

The Supplementary Information Form should be returned to the School Office, together with a copy of Baptism Certificate (if applicable).  This form should be returned by the closing date of application in the academic year prior to the child starting Nursery/Reception.

Reception Admissions for September 2019 (Children born between 01 September 2014 and 31 August 2015):

In Year Admissions:

For all in year applicants,  application forms should be returned to the School Office at the same time as applying online – http://www.hertsdirect.org/services/edlearn/admissions/inyear/.   In addition you will need to download and complete an  In Year Supplementary Information Form 2019 2020 and a copy of the Baptism Certificate if applicable.  A hard copy of the Supplementary Information Form is available from the School Office.

Eligibility for Free School Meals and Pupil Premium:

If you are currently receiving benefits, your child may be entitled to Free School Meals and additional funding for support in school through Pupil Premium.  If you think this may apply and you would like to find out more, please contact the School Office for further details.
